About Chicubes
Our family have been poultry farmers since the 1930,s (although I was not then alive my mother still can tell me many tales about how things were then). We used to produce wooden hen houses that housed 200 birds for farmers throught the UK back before the days of intensive egg production when most farmers found it still economic to keep a small flock.
During the war years families kept a few hens in the garden or in the back yard. It is Chicubes aim to present this idea of backgarden hen keeping to everyone. Ideally please have ex battery hens, they deserve a chance of life after their work is done in the battery, if you want to keep fancy hens or have a couple of point of lays please try to make room for even one ex battery when you are setting up your hen coop.
Chicubes makes this easy for you , even if you are a complete novice, we bring the housing, hens and everything they need to get started. Hen keeping is not difficult and is very rewarding for all the family, we are always on hand to help with any queries you may have.
Information about battery farming can be found on www.littlehenrescue.co.uk/ and www.ciwf.org.
Battery hens can be collected by arrangement from our farm in North Staffordshire or Joe at Little Hen Rescue in Norfolk

Little Hen Rescue 30/10/08
Chicubes are proud to work in conjunction with this fantastic organisation. Little Hen Rescue is run by Jo, an extremely hard working lady who helps thousands of ex-battery chickens live a better quality of life after their previous life in battery farms. She rescues them from battery farms and re-homes them with people who feel as passionately about the cause as she does. We are also proud donors to the Little Hen Rescue centre and have currently provided them with some of our homes for the rescued chickens to live in before finding them a new home. We are currently working with them to increase the amount of homes donated so that they will be able to house more and more of the rescued chickens in our clean and comfortable housing systems, we hope to be able to help Little Hen Rescue provide housing for many thousands of birds in the future. If you are interested in re-homing a battery hen or are interested to find out more please visit the Little Hen Rescue site using the link provided. www.littlehenrescue.co.uk/

Gould Life Poultry
We recommend this site and the poultry which you can get from it. We have visited Sharon at her premises and noted just how many different breeds there were to choose from. Sharon has a well set up area with chickens for you to choose from in just about every direction you look, she also breeds quail, ducks and guinnea fowl, so there is plenty to choose from. All of her chickens are healthy and happy with a huge space for them to enjoy. Her knowledge of chickens is impressive, but perhaps more importantly she is very passionate about her work and works very hard to provide healthy and happy chickens that have been well looked after ready for sale. Sharon is also a keen and successful competitor in chicken breeding and visits many shows nationwide. For more information please visit her site. www.gouldlifepoultryltd.co.uk
Ridgeway Bank Farm
Ridgeway Bank Farm recieves our recommendation. After visiting Phil and Marie at their farm we are pleased to recommend them to you. We found that they had an excellent farm with a good set up and you can expect a friendly, knowledgeable and personal reception as well as everything that you need to keep your chickens happy. They have organised their chickens into seperate areas allowing you to view chickens easily. They have a large pen in which all the chickens which are for sale are kept, allowing you to choose chickens easily. They also have five seperate pens containing five different breeds in which the chickens that they breed from are kept, allowing you to view the parents of the birds that you are buying. We found their farm to be exceptionally clean with a full flock of healthy and happy chickens. A great day for the family. Their farm also has a farm shop. To find out more visit their site. www.ridgewaybank.co.uk
Gulliver Geese
We are pleased to recommend Gulliver Geese to you. They are the UK's largest producers of day old goslings for sale april through to august. They have an impresive site which is well worth your attention if you are interested in keeping geese. We have not visited their premises yet, however we are hoping to do so in the near future. In the mean time why not take a look at their site. www.gulliver-poultry.co.uk/
